Khaled Anani, Egypt’s candidate for the position of Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), paid on Sunday a visit to Brazzaville, Congo, as part of his current tour of a number of African states that are members of the organization’s executive council.
The visit included meetings with Foreign Minister of Congo as well as some UNESCO officials.
Anani’s visit to Congo aims at conveying a thank-you message from the Egyptian leadership to the African nation over AU member states’ endorsement of Anani for UNESCO leadership.
The visit also comes as part of the Egyptian keenness on listening to viewpoints of UNESCO member states before drafting Anani’s elections program.
Angola is Anani’s next stop, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriaes.
