Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly thanked former Transport Minister Hisham Arafat, stating that he carried out his responsibility and did his best during his term of office in spite of the major challenges facing the transport sector’s infrastructure.
“We are also facing a challenge regarding the cadres in these sectors that need training and rehabilitation,” he said, during a Wednesday Cabinet meeting.
“The Ramses Station accident is ringing a warning bell. Officials are exerting the maximum effort. The state has invested heavily in infrastructure,” Madbouly said, adding that “It is important to do more to raise the efficiency of and train the transport sector’s workforce.”
Arafat handed in his resignation following the Ramses Station accident last week, which resulted in the death of over 22 citizens and left 40 injured.
