Eid al-Adha film surprises

Distribution companies and movie theaters are confused about the Eid al-Adha film season due to last minute cancellations and replacements of films, the low quality of films and the fact that the school year will start right after the feast, which is affecting ticket sales.

The first surprise is that the film “Men Dahr Ragel” will not be shown because the editing was not completed in time, although many movie theaters had planned to show it because it features many high-profile stars, including director Karim al-Sonky and actors Asser Yassin, Mahmoud Hemeida and Yasmin Rais.

The film profiles a young man who dreams of being a professional boxer but is unable to fulfill his dream.

Another surprise is that the film “Al-Geel Al-Rabea” will be go ahead with screening. The movie is directed by Ahmed Nader Galal and does not include any major stars. The story is about the adventures of four young people between 18 and 20 years of age.

The only blockbuster expected to achieve high revenues is the film “Ahwak”, which features many stars, including Tamer Hosny, Ghada Adel and Mahmoud Hemeida.

Tamer Hosny has returned to the silver screen in a new role, after a four-year hiatus. He plays a plastic surgeon who wants to marry a young woman but changes his mind and decides to marry her divorced mother only to face problems with her ex-husband.

Another blockbuster, the first for director Mahmoud Selim, is the film “Eyal Harifa” starring Mohamed Lotfy, Poussy, Sofinar, Mahmoud al-Leithy and Saad al-Saghir. It is a comedy about a loser who suddenly finds himself the coach of a women’s football team.

The last movie is “Four Kutshina” starring Oka, Ortega and Shehdeh Karika, which had apparently been shelved and forgotten about for two years for no obvious reason.

Other films that have been showing and will continue to play during the feast are “Welad Rizk” and “A-Khalbous.”
