ElBaradei hails collapse of Qadhafi’s rule, as Tripoli falls

Egyptian presidential candidate and former International Atomic Energy Agency director Mohamed ElBaradei has hailed the collapse of Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi’s 42-year rule.

On Sunday, Libyan rebels, who have waged a six-month struggle against pro-Qadhafi forces, stormed the country’s capital, Tripoli.

Qadhafi is still out of the revolutionaries’ reach, but press reports have said that rebels have arrested his son, Saif al-Islam.

“The Freedom Train for the locally occupied Arab world has left the station and will not stop ever. Rejoice, the dream is fast becoming reality," ElBaradei said on Twitter today.

He urged Arab nations ravaged with popular uprisings, such as Syria and Yemen, to keep up their resistance.
