Eleven model hospitals to start pilot operation in November: minister

The pilot operation of 11 model hospitals in a number of governorates will start from the first of November, Minister of Health Hala Zayed announced.

These hospitals will be the nucleus of the application of the comprehensive health insurance system, she added.

Zayed explained at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly that the project is divided into two phases.

The first includes the development of 30 hospitals affiliated with the ministry. The second phase will include establishing a model hospital in each governorate every year starting from 2020, Zayed mentioned.

Under the project, human resources, financial sustainability, quality standards, maintenance and operation systems and electronic linkage will be developed in hospitals.

The minister presented a list of hospitals that have been selected to qualify as model hospitals in various governorates.

Zayed said that a field visit to Wadi al-Nil Hospital in Cairo was organized by the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces and the Health Ministry. The hospital was selected as a reference model in Cairo.

Zayed formed a team from the ministry to assess the situation in selected hospitals. The Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces formed another committee to assess the construction status of buildings.
