The Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri revealed the latest developments regrading the opening of the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria.
He said that the artifacts have been placed in the exhibition halls where many pieces will go on display for the first time, with some of these artifacts being the product of sunken antiquities excavations.
Waziri said this is amongst the most important museums specialized in one civilization in the world, and is considered the largest museum specialized in Greco-Roman antiquities within the Mediterranean basin.
All work in the museum is nearing completion, he added, and work is now underway to place the artifacts inside the museum display windows, according to the scheduled display scenario.
Development is also underway for the Muhammad Ali’s Gabakhana (Muhammad Ali’s gunpowder factory) – now known as Stable Antar – he added, in order to save this important monument.
