Families of Egyptian medical professionals fallen victim to coronavirus to receive LE100,000

The Egyptian Doctors Syndicate and the Medical Professionals Union has decided to disburse LE100,000 to the family of each medical worker who dies from coronavirus, and LE20,000 to those who become infected, the Doctors Syndicate announced in a statement made on Tuesday.

The money will be disbursed to victims who are members of the Doctors, Dentists, Pharmacists, and Veterinarians syndicates, provided that infection occurs while providing medical services in Egypt.

The statement said the Doctors Syndicate will provide LE50,000 and the Medical Professionals Union the other LE50,000.

The statement also stressed that the measure comes as part an effort to offer moral support to the victims and their families.

The syndicate called on the Egyptian Cabinet to add coronavirus victims from among medical professionals to the list of beneficiaries of the fund for families of victims of terrorism, established by Law No. 16 in 2018.

The syndicate called on the concerned authorities to swiftly disburse the financial entitlements allocated for doctors working in Egypt’s isolation hospitals, in accordance with announcements made at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in Egypt.
