BEIRUT, Nov 26 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt supports sparing Lebanon the risks of any escalation or aggression against its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Speaking to AlQahera News TV channel on Wednesday, Abdelatty said his current visit to Lebanon came upon direct instructions from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to deliver a message of full support to Lebanon’s leadership, government, and people.
The foreign minister underscored the importance of listening to Lebanon’s assessment of current risks, stressing Egypt’s backing for the Lebanese army and for President Joseph Aoun’s Independence Day initiative to strengthen state authority.
He reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of any Israeli violations of Lebanese territory and called for full implementation of UN Resolution 1701, including Israel’s withdrawal from the five occupied points.
He said Cairo is working through all regional and international channels—via contacts with Arab, African, European, and US officials—to prevent any deterioration in Lebanon.
Abdelatty pointed out to broad Lebanese political consensus on extending state authority across all regions.
He emphasized that Egypt will continue supporting Lebanon and its army, pushing political solutions forward, and using its diplomatic network to prevent escalation.
He added that Egypt is also actively working on crises in Palestine, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Syria.
Regarding Gaza, the foreign minister said Cairo’s stance is focused on upholding the ceasefire, implementing the latest relevant UN Security Council resolution, deploying an international stabilization force, enabling a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the enclave, and ensuring large-scale aid entry and full Israeli withdrawal.
