Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed, during a phone call on Sunday, Aug 2, 2026, with High Representative for Gaza Nikolay Mladenov, the latest developments in negotiations to complete the implementation of the commitments under the US-backed Gaza peace plan.
The call came within the framework of ongoing consultations and coordination over the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing all first-phase commitments, including ensuring the full, safe and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid, securing the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and advancing early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The two sides also reviewed arrangements for the next phase, with Abdelatty underscoring the importance of the National Committee for Gaza Administration assuming its responsibilities from within the Gaza Strip to efficiently manage the transitional period and preserve the unity of the Palestinian territories.
Abdelatty further stressed the need for all parties to honor their commitments under the plan and refrain from taking any measures that could undermine its implementation, in a way that contributes to achieving security and stability and helps restore peace across the region.
