
PARIS/CAIRO, Oct 6 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty voiced appreciation for the strong support extended by Western countries to Khaled al-Anany, Egypt’s candidate for the post of UNESCO Director-General.
The minister made the remarks during his meeting on Monday with Luxembourg’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, who currently chairs the Western European and Other States Group (WEOG), on the sidelines of the ongoing session of the organization’s Executive Board in Paris, said a statement by the foreign ministry.
Abdelatty highlighted the Egyptian candidate’s distinguished qualifications, extensive experience, and ambitious vision to enhance UNESCO’s role in advancing education, culture and science worldwide.
For her part, Luxembourg’s Permanent Delegate commended the outstanding relations between her country and Egypt, and lauded Cairo’s active and balanced role within the organization.
She also praised Dr. Anany’s impressive credentials and professional record, which reflect Egypt’s long-standing leadership in the cultural and scientific fields at the international level. (MENA)
