CAIRO, Dec 16 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Tuesday discussed over phone with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi ways of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the agency, as well as developments of the Iranian nuclear file.
During the call, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s keenness on continuing coordination and cooperation with the IAEA.
He commended the pivotal role of the agency as regards the verification system, in line with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
The phone calls addressed the Iranian nuclear file, with Abdelatty underscoring the importance of continuing efforts aimed at building confidence and paving the way for sustained cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.
The Egyptian top diplomat stressed that such efforts would provide an opportunity to reach diplomatic solutions, resume dialogue and achieve a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear file that takes into account the interests of all parties and contributes to achieving regional security and stability.
