JEDDAH/CAIRO, Aug 25 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Monday visited Egypt’s Consulate General in Jeddah on the sidelines of his participation in the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the visit, Abdelatty inspected the consulate’s departments and reviewed the workflow and services provided to Egyptians within its jurisdiction.
He stressed the need to continue upgrading and digitalizing consular services, ensuring the best possible care for the Egyptian community abroad, and removing any obstacles they may encounter.
The minister underlined that supporting Egyptians living abroad is a top national priority and an integral part of the State’s strategy to strengthen ties with its citizens abroad.
He also stressed the importance of direct engagement with expatriates, swiftly addressing their needs, and guaranteeing full support and protection.
Egyptian communities abroad, he added, serve as a bridge between Egypt and the outside world, contributing to the national economy and promoting Egypt’s cultural and civilizational image at the regional and international levels.
The visit also covered the voting process for Egyptians abroad in the run-off round of the 2025 Senate elections, as part of Egypt’s commitment to ensuring transparency and enabling expatriates to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of providing all necessary facilities for voters in Jeddah and reaffirmed the consulate’s readiness to facilitate the balloting process. (MENA)
