Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has praised strong historic ties between Egypt and Benin.
Abdelatty’s remarks came on Saturday 24/8/2024 at a meeting with Benin’s Foreign Minister Olushegun Adjadi Bakari on the sidelines of their participation in the Tokyo International Conference of African Development (TICAD) in Japan.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Abdelatty stressed that Egypt is keen to deepen these ties and cement cooperation with the African country.
Egypt works on boosting economic cooperation and increasing trade exchange with Benin to serve the interests of both countries’ peoples and cope with the development plans in different domains, Abu Zeid said.
The ministers also discussed a number of regional and international issues, highlighting Egypt’s efforts on settling crises in Gaza, Sudan, Libya, West Africa and Sahel region.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s readiness to share its experiment in combating terrorism with Egypt, saying Egypt supports Benin in all measures taken to confront terrorism.
For his part, Bakari said his country is keen to enhance ties and promote cooperation with Egypt at different levels, lauding training courses organized by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development as well as scholarships granted by Al Azhar and the Higher Education Ministry.
