FM participates in high-level discussion on early recovery in Gaza

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty participated in a high-level discussion on the Palestinian issue held at the World Bank headquarters, with the participation of several senior officials.

The discussion focused on ways to coordinate international efforts to support the Palestinian people and address the situation in Gaza.

During the get-together, Abdelatty highlighted the current regional escalation, which underscores the need to refocus attention on the difficult humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

He warned of dwindling international interest in Gaza, especially as the scope of crises in the region widens.

He emphasized the importance of collective efforts to reduce regional escalation due to its direct impact on the developments in Gaza.

The minister also stressed the importance of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and enhancing its ability to manage daily affairs in preparation for the full return of the Palestinian Authority to assume its responsibilities.

He reiterated the necessity of swiftly deploying an international stability force.

Abdelatty emphasized the need to coordinate activities and projects, whether on a bilateral or collective basis, focusing on projects that will have a rapid and tangible impact on the ground, such as providing medicines, construction materials, water desalination plants, mobile power generation units, and temporary housing projects.

These efforts would contribute to making Gaza livable during the transitional phase, while taking into account the on-the-ground reality.

He also highlighted the pivotal role played by national Red Crescent and Red Cross organizations, particularly the Egyptian Red Crescent, which has gone beyond traditional humanitarian assistance to contribute to early recovery efforts.
