Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday received two phone calls from his counterparts Giorgos Gerapetritis of Greece and Nabil Ammar of Tunisia to discuss efforts being exerted for de-escalation between the Palestinians Israelis.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the talks focused on means to defuse the crisis and end the violence and military operations targeting the Gaza Strip and its surrounding areas since such escalation would exacerbate the humanitarian and security conditions for Palestinian people.
Shoukry underscored the need to coordinate efforts of regional and international parties to cease hostilities immediately to save the lives of civilians and innocent people from both sides.
The international community needs to deal with the reasons of this escalation, Shoukry said, calling for reaching a just and comprehensive solution for the Palestinian problem to bring stability for the peoples of the region.
The ministers agreed on having close consultations within the coming days to contain this crisis.
