FM stresses need to rely on diplomatic pathways to achieve peace, security, stability in region

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty underscored the importance of relying on diplomatic pathways as the foundation for achieving peace, security and stability in the region, reaffirming that Egypt will continue its vigorous efforts to resolve crises and support regional stability.

This came during Abdelatty’s meeting on Saturday 6/12/2025 with Ban Ki-moon, former UN secretary-general, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.

Abdelatty praised Ban’s significant contributions during his tenure leading the UN, commending his current role in enriching global discussions and his dedicated efforts to support peace, justice and environmental protection through his membership in The Elders committee.

Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s full support for the multilateral UN system, particularly in light of the complex global challenges facing the world today.

He asserted that international cooperation remains the most effective approach to bolstering stability and advancing development regionally and internationally amid unprecedented geopolitical and economic transformations.

He reiterated Egypt’s longstanding commitment to the core principles of the UN Charter since joining the organization, highlighting that Egypt’s foreign policy has always been grounded in respect for these foundational principles.

He stressed Egypt’s adherence to the pivotal role played by the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security and supporting sustainable development efforts for all nations without exception.
