South Cairo Criminal Court accepted on Thursday an appeal by Hassan Hamdy, former director of Ahram Advertising Agency, against decision of imprisoning him for 15 days pending investigations over corruption. He was released on a LE100,000 bail.

The judicial investigation panel decided on Monday remanding Hamdy and Amr abdel Aziz, former chief of the Ahram Chairman’s office, for 15 days into custody over financial corruption. It also released Mohamed Mohammedein, former director of the agency on LE20,000 bail.

The authority conducted investigations upon reports from the Administrative Control Authority, Central Auditing Organization and some Ahram journalists. The reports indicated financial corruption that exceeded millions of pounds and facilitating the embezzlement of Ahram money.
