Former MP Ahmed Abu Zeid said the current political situation could lead to collapse unless it is corrected, adding that any reform or change aspired to is entirely in the hands of President Hosni Mubarak.
He went on to tell Al-Masry Al-Youm that the popularity of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) does not exceed three percent, and the party is controlled by a few elite who do not care about the masses, which has caused the party to lose its credibility.
Abu Zeid predicted that the Muslim Brotherhood will not win any seats in the imminent parliamentary elections, and the Wafd Party, which he described as the current NDP favorite, will take over all the seats that the Muslim Brothers had won in the last elections.
Abu Zeid warned of what he called "savage capitalists" within the ruling party and the government who only work for their own interest and not that of the people, and who, he said, have managed to reduce society into one very rich class and another very poor one.
