Fuel shortages return during Ramadan

Fuel shortages have appeared again during Ramadan in several governorates, causing cars to line up at gas stations and clashes to break out between drivers fighting for their turn.

“Diesel and 80-octane fuel prices went up considerably,” said Ragab Mahmoud from Qena.

In Sohag, taxi drivers raised the tariff from six to ten pounds.

In Gerga, police seized 4,300 liters of subsidized 80-octane fuel in barrels before they were sold on the black market.

In Qalyubia, two gas station owners were arrested for hiding 1.2 million liters to sell later for higher prices.
