Giza Governor Ali abdel Rahman signed a protocol Wednesday in order to shift dependence from electricity to solar energy to light up Nile street within 60 days.
Turning to solar energy will yield environmental and economic gains that will contribute to the supply of energy as well as the development of renewable energy usage, the governor said.
The project includes lightening up Nile street, stretching from Monib in the south to Dokki and Agouza in the north, in four stages that will operate 494 streetlamps through solar energy. Maintenance will be carried out throughout the three-year duration of the contract.
