Government denies intention for sale of airports to foreign bodies

The Cabinet’s media center has denied reports circulated on some websites and social media pages alleging that the government intends to sell airports to foreign bodies.

The center said in a statement on Saturday 3/8/2024 that it has contacted the Ministry of Civil Aviation which dismissed such reports, stressing that the information circulated is fake and baseless.

The ministry stressed that the airports are fully owned by the state that carries out an integrated strategy to upgrade the efficiency of airports and increase their capacity through implementing a number of infrastructure development projects.

The ministry also pointed out that it is intended to run and operate the airports by the private sector to attract further investments under the state’s strategy for enhancing the participation of the private sector in the domains of operation and management.

The center urged all media outlets and social media users to verify the authenticity of such reports to avoid confusing the public opinion.
