The cabinet’s media center has denied reports that the government cancelled the bread points system applicable in ration cards.
In a statement issued Saturday, the center said it contacted the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry that dismissed the groundless claims.
The ministry stressed that extra points are still added to ration cards if holders do not want to receive their full quota of bread. They can still buy commodities equivalent in price from ration outlets.
The center urged media outlets to verify the authenticity of reports they publish to avoid disrupting public order.
