Cabinet Spokesman Counselor Mohamed al-Homosany said on Monday 3/3/2025 that there is a broad consensus between Egypt and the European Union on the importance of achieving stability in the Middle East region, a matter that will reflect positively on development efforts and security of EU countries.
In a telephone interview for “Haza El Sabah” (This Morning) on Extra News channel, the spokesman said that the two sides have common goals and interests regarding different regional issues, topped by the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The state of instability is clear in illegal immigration cases and unrest in the Middle East due to geographical factors, which in turn negatively affects the EU states, he added.
He further underlined that Egypt has strategic ties with the EU and cooperates in many sectors, including renewable energy, IT, education, and knowledge.
He cited Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly meeting with EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica, saying it came within the framework of the European official’s follow-up of efforts made to implement the EU-Egypt Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership that was signed in March 2024.
He noted that Egypt signed many agreements with the EU in the area of renewable energy, particularly in green hydrogen. This partnership is based on the needs of the European market for green hydrogen and gives Egypt a great opportunity to produce renewable energy and export it to EU countries, Homosany added.
Egypt provides all the necessary capabilities to attract investors in the renewable energy domain, he said, adding Egypt is also working to diversify its energy sources through the gradual increase of its renewable energy sources.
