Seven anonymous gunmen opened fire in a cement factory in Ramady, North Sinai on Wednesday. No injuries or deaths were reported.
Workers at the factory told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the attackers also sabotaged equipment and vandalized offices.
After the gunmen stormed the facility, the workers left the compound and went to the governorate headquarters, blocking the highway and setting tires on fire in an attempt to get officials to intervene in the situation.
This attack comes on the heels of the kidnapping of the factory’s manager, Hassan al-Kasaby, who was released on Tuesday after being held by unknown assailants for two days. A Bedouin source told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Kasaby was released after police and army intervened.
