Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim stole the show after scoring two goals in Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Birmingham City in a friendly match on Friday.
The friendly between Barcelona and Birmingham City took place at St. Andrew’s Stadium in England as part of their preparations for the 2026-2027 season.
Despite Barcelona’s dominance and possession in the first half, they failed to find the net.
Birmingham opened the scoring through August Prisque in the 31st minute.
Hamza Abdelkarim Scores
At the 41st minute, Barcelona were awarded a penalty after Abdelkarim was fouled inside the penalty area.
Abdelkarim expertly converted the penalty, leveling the score at 1-1 against Birmingham in the 42nd minute.
He received a yellow card in the 44th minute for a strong tackle on a Birmingham player.
The first half ended with Barcelona and Birmingham tied 1-1.
Hamza Scores a Brace
In the 60th minute, Abdelkarim scored his second goal and Barcelona’s second against Birmingham City.
The second goal came after Abdelkarim followed up on a powerful shot from outside the penalty area that was parried by the Birmingham goalkeeper.
The Egyptian striker pounced on the rebound and fired it into the net with his left foot, putting Barcelona ahead 2-1.
Abdelkarim was substituted in the 62nd minute after scoring twice against Birmingham.
In the 68th minute, Birmingham equalized through John Solis, making the score 2-2.
