Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday 28/1/2024 the Cancer Early Detection presidential initiative has provided free of charge medical services to as many as 2.61 million persons, as part of “100-Day Health” initiative.
The medical examinations were carried out as part of the first and second phases of the initiative, which targeted the early diagnoses of cancerous prostate, colon, lung and cervical tumors, across 18 governorates.
The campaign, which targeted people aged 18 years old and more, seeks reducing fatalities of tumor diseases alongside alleviating financial burden of both the early detection and treatment of advanced cases.
Ministry of Health Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 34,992 cases have been referred to conduct lung tumors examination, 191,782 cases for colon tumors examination, 137,835 cases for prostate tumors examination along with 8,000 cases referred to cervical tumors examination.
The governorates included in both stages are Alexandria, Beheira, Matrouh, Damietta, Qalioubiya, Fayoum, Assiut, South Sinai and Port-Said, Monufia, Red Sea, Sohag, Ismailia, Beni Suef, North Sinai and Luxor.
