Ministry of Health and Population announced Friday 29/03/2024 that hearing screening services have been provided to 6,264,982 children, as part of a presidential initiative for early detection and treatment of hearing impairment and loss in newborns, since its launch in September 2019.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population said, the number of hospitals and hearing referral centers has increased to 34 instead of 30 centers in all governorates.
Hospitals and centers have been provided with the latest medical devices and supplies in support of the hearing initiative services, he added.
The initiative was launched in September 2019 at 3,500 health units and offices across all governorates to conduct auditory screening tests for children from birth until the age of 28 days.
