Spokesperson for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the presidential initiative for the early detection of hearing problems and deafness in newborns is a sustainable initiative for public health and is not limited to certain time.
In statements to “Good Morning Egypt” TV program, Abdel Ghaffar said the presidential initiatives are not limited to certain time.
He said that the states conducting comprehensive hearing scans of newborns represent 38 percent of world countries.
He expounded that early detection of hearing problems can help in child treatment in order to have a normal life, but any delay can hamper child’s innovative skills.
He said that 3,500 health units all over Egypt conduct hearing scans for newborns from one-day-old until 28-day-old.
