Health Ministry prepares emergency response teams for Egypt v. Congo match

The Egyptian Health Ministry said Sunday it had devised a comprehensive plan to provide medical service in case of any emergency during the highly anticipated football match between the Egypt and Congo national teams in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, to be held this evening at Borg al-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Spokesperson for the Health Ministry, Khaled Megahed, said that 25 ambulances total will be stationed around the stadium, 11 inside  and 14 outside, along with a makeshift clinic set up with all the necessary equipment and medications inside the stadium.

He added that number of ambulances has been increased on all axes and roads leading to Alexandria, the level of prepardness in all hospitals has been raised to the maximum, especially in Al-Ameriyah and Burj al-Arab hospitals, doctors in all medical fields have been made available.

The hospitals were provided with medicine, supplies, equipment and blood bags, Megahed said.

He added that the ministry called on the Alexandria Health Directorate to prepare two teams for rapid deployment, consisting of various medical specialists to provide support to any hospital in the governorate when necessary, in addition to support to some hospitals with rapid response teams, as to improve the level of service.
