Central Security forces were deployed in front of the main gate of the Azhar University dorms for boys on Sunday, following clashes between pro-Muslim Brtherhood students and security.
Dozens of the university students have thrown Molotov cocktails at the security forces during clashes, and security responded by firing tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.
Al-Azhar University has seen chronic clashes between security and pro-Brotherhood students since the start of the school year last September, leading to many casualties among students, while hundreds were arrested.
Authorities have decided to ban demonstrations within the university without the university president's permission .
