The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts hot and humid weather across most parts of the country from Friday until Tuesday, June 23.
The weather will be mild and humid during the early morning hours, becoming hot and humid during the day in northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, while growing very hot in southern Egypt.
Evening temperatures will be mild across most of the country, becoming slightly hot in Upper Egypt.
The EMA also warned of fog formation between four am and eight am on some roads leading to and from northern Egypt, Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
The authority advised caution while driving, urging drivers to use headlights, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and open car windows to prevent fogging and reduced visibility.
The EMA also predicted intermittent wind activity across most of the country from Friday to Tuesday, which may contribute to a relative cooling of temperatures in some areas.
It explained that the high humidity levels will cause temperatures to feel one to two degrees Celsius higher than the temperatures recorded in the shade.
Expected temperatures
- Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt: 34-35C
- North Coast: 28-29C
- Northern Upper Egypt: 35-36C
- Southern Upper Egypt: 41C
The EMA called on citizens to stay updated on weather forecasts and avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours – especially in the southern governorates of Upper Egypt, which are expected to experience the highest temperatures in the coming days.
