Interior Minister Mansour al-Essawy is scheduled to testify in the trial of ousted President Hosni Mubarak and other officials Wednesday at the Police Academy.
Essawy's predecessor, Mahmoud Wagdy, who briefly served in the position as part of former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq's government, is scheduled to take the stand Thursday.
Previous trial sessions have been marked by unrest outside the court, but calmness prevailed at the academy in the Fifth Settlement in New Cairo Wednesday. About 20 Mubarak supporters and martyrs' family members demonstrated outside.
Mubarak, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of Adly's aides are accused of charges related to killing protesters during the revolution.
Former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman testified on Tuesday in a closed session.
Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of the ruling military council, and Armed Forces Chief of Staff Sami Anan have apologized for not testifying as scheduled on 11 September. The court has ordered them to testify on 24 and 25 September.
