Irrigation min praises distinguished relations between Egypt, S. Africa at all levels

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam on Thursday hailed the distinguished relations between Egypt and South Africa at all levels, asserting Egypt’s keenness on promoting cooperation among African nations through achieving the higher interests of all people on the continent.
Sewilam made the remarks during a meeting with South African Minister of Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu at the new premises of the Irrigation Ministry in the New Administrative Capital, on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW), hosted by Egypt on June 13-15.
Sewilam pointed out to the under way steps to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Egypt and South Africa in the field of water resources management, in order to enhance the decentralized management of water resources, ensure joint coordination regarding international and continental initiatives alongside boosting cooperation in climate resilience.
Meanwhile, the South African minister praised the profound relations between his country and Egypt, affirming eagerness for strengthening cooperation with Egypt in various areas, especially in the water resources domain.
Egypt is the president of the AMCOW during the period of 2023-2024. A large number of African water ministers and top state officials have attended the 13th meetings of the pan-African body, which kicked off in Tuesday.
