After discovering an unknown substance in his possession, Egyptian security detained on Wednesday an Israeli tourist who was on his way to Egypt via the Taba border crossing, according to Sky News Arabia.
A security source told the website that a bomb squad confirmed that the substance was not explosive, but that it had been referred to a lab in the Interior Ministry for further examination.
Prosecutors at the resort city of Sharm al-Sheikh are currently interrogating the tourist, an Israeli Arab, as to why he had that substance in his possession.
In January, Egyptian authorities arrested another Israeli, Andrei Pshenichnikov, for illegally crossing the border at Taba. He was sentenced to two years in prison in February.
