The Agricultural Development Authority confiscated 3000 acres of land in Ayat from the Kanaria Land Reclamation Company, a company owned by a number of officers of the dissolved State Security Investigation Service.
The authority said the company was not serious about reclaiming the land.
Another 26,000 acres in the same area were confiscated from the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Reclamation Company, which sold 10,000 acres without conducting reclamation work and without referring to the authority.
In related news, Minister of Agriculture Farid Abu Hadid said the government would offer 2160 acres in Toshka for fresh graduates to buy and reclaim.
