Libya says border crossings with Egypt closed ‘over assaults on Libyans’

The border crossings between Egypt and Libya will remain closed until Libya comes to a new arrangement with the Egyptian authorities, Libya's Deputy Interior Minister Wanis al-Sharef said on Friday, according to Egypt's state news agency MENA.

Sharef added that the decision to close the border crossings came after “Salloum residents repeatedly assaulted Libyans crossing into Egypt via the Musaed border crossing.”

MENA did not say when the border was closed.
