Low-ranking police officers at Imbaba Police Station have denied the station's chief, Brigadier General Mahmoud Abdallah, entry to the facility following remarks they say he made to media outlets, in which he described the officers as "thugs" and "thieves."
A security source told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Giza Security Chief Major General Salem al-Naghy, asked Abdallah not to go to the police station until the incident is investigated. Abdallah may be transferred to another station.
Abdallah, however, said in a press statement that his remarks were not directed at all police officers, but rather to those who had been sacked for violating rules. He stressed that the Interior Ministry respects all civil servants, and said he hopes lower-ranking officers will have their problems solved in order to resume work.
