March against military trials attacked

Activists from the Free Copts movement on Thursday said they were attacked while preparing to participate in a march that started from Shubra and headed to Tahrir Square. The march was in protest against military trials for civilians.

While dozens were gathering at Shubra, unidentified individuals went to the top of a building and hurled stones at protesters, activists added. Some protesters were injured and transferred to Ra’ie al-Saleh hospital in Shubra.

Heavy Security was seen on Shubra Street as clashes began. Central security troops closed the street but hadn’t yet intervened to stop confrontations.

Several marches have been staged in recent days to protest trials of civilians in military courts.

Witnesses said that counter protesters raised a Saudi flag.
