Nashat Deif, director of the Egyptian Cultural Center in Nouakchott, met with Ibna bint al-Khales, the director of the Mauritanian Institute for Scientific Research, to discuss ways for Mauritania to benefit from the Egyptian experience in preserving its heritage of antiquities.
They agreed to train Mauritanian cadres in archaeological research, especially in the city of Azuki, which was the capital of the Almoravid state a thousand years ago, and to help discover rare Arab antiquities there.
