Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah al-Din Mostafa and Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad discussed the executive status of several joint cooperation topics between the two sides in the field of municipal solid waste management.
The meeting took place at the General Office of the Ministry of Military Production in the government district of the New Administrative Capital.
Mostafa began the meeting by welcoming Fouad and her accompanying delegation, congratulating her on the renewed confidence in her assuming the Ministry of Environment portfolio.
He pointed out that this meeting comes in light of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the continuous follow-up by the Prime Minister with the ministries concerned with the solid waste management system.
He emphasized that the projects being implemented within this system, especially those contributing to the transition to clean energy, are all measures that help preserve the environment and adapt to potential climate changes, alongside the health benefits they bring to citizens and their economic advantages.
He explained that during the meeting, the executive status of the ongoing project under the protocol signed between the Ministries of Military Production, Environment, Local Development, and Giza Governorate to convert waste into electrical energy with a capacity of 1200 tons/day producing 30 megawatts/hour in the Abu Rawash area of Giza Governorate was discussed.
He noted that all parties are currently striving to activate cooperation and implement this project as soon as possible, contributing to improving the environmental, health, and living conditions of citizens, reducing pollution rates, and establishing a national industry for waste management to generate electrical energy.
This project will also provide job opportunities, he said, affirming that everyone is keen to overcome any challenges that may arise during the project’s implementation.
