Millions of Muslim worshipers in Egypt performed the Eid al-Adha prayer on Friday morning in mosques and 5,200 squares, allocated by the Ministry of Endowments, in Cairo and other provinces.
Citizens flocked to the mosques and squares amid a festive spread of street vendors, especially ones selling toys.
Volunteers distributed sweets to children and held fun competitions to add to the holiday atmosphere of Eid al-Adha.
The worshipers sat in prayer yards exchanging greetings and repeating the Eid al-Adha “takbeer”, Arabic phrases used to express that God is great.
Security measures were heightened at the areas of prayer and ambulances were deployed to provide service to emergency cases.
