Ministry says signed contracts with Nile taxi operators

The Transport Ministry has signed contracts with two transport firms who will operate long-awaited Nile River taxis, its spokesperson, Ahmed Ibrahim, said Thursday.

“The Nile taxi file has been on government shelves for four years, and the current transport minister (Saad el-Geyoushi) activated the project within record time,” Ibrahim told al-Ghad channel.

According to Ibrahim, the companies promised 200-passenger boats that will help reduce the price of tickets for citizens and help expand the project faster.

The ministry had put up the project for investors during the economic conference in Sharm el-Sheikh in March 2015.
