Ministry: Trade between Egypt, AMU reaches US$449.6 million during Q1 of 2015

The trade between Egypt and the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) reached US$449.6 million during the first quarter of 2015, Trade and Industry Ministry announced.
 
In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that the value of Egyptian exports to AMU reached US$404 million during the first quarter, while imports during the same period amounted to US$45.61 million.
 
Egyptian exports mainly included chemical products, plastics, paper, iron, steel, copper, aluminium, soap and others. Imports included mineral fuel, organic chemical products, iron, steel, cars and tractors.
 
The trade balance between Egypt and AMU produced a surplus of US$1.830 million last year and US$1.772 billion in 2013, the statement added.
 
The statement attributed the surplus in 2014 to the increase in exports, which reached US$2.261 billion, while imports reached US$430.9 million.
