Supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy protested on Tuesday afternoon in front of the headquarters of the Electricity Ministry in Abbasiya, the Agriculture Ministry in Dokki, and the Higher Education Ministry in Qasr al-Aini.
The demonstrators held posters of the ousted President and banners calling for his return to office.
Some protesters tried to demonstrate in front of the Central Military Zone adjacent to the Electricity Ministry, but the army blocked the road in front of them, so they left the area and went back to Rabaa al-Adaweya where they have been holding a sit-in for over 40 days.
In front of the Agriculture Ministry in Dokki, Morsy supporters chanted slogans demanding his return to office and others called for restoring the 2012 constitution, which has been suspended. They then headed back to the base of their other permanent sit-in in Renaissance square in Giza.
The Higher Education Ministry demonstration was held by dozens of university professors and students who belong to the Muslim Brotherhood, in protest of the new government and in demand of Minister Hossam Eissa's resignation.
They chanted, “whether you kill one or a hundred, we will not leave Rabaa al-Adaweya,” and “Sisi, leave. Morsy is my President.” They held banners reading “Universities against the coup.”
The ministry building's security personnel shut the gates, fearing that the protesters might storm it or commit violent acts on the people inside.
The protest blocked traffic on Qasr al-Ainy street in downtown Cairo.
