Hundreds of former members of the defunct National Democratic Party (NDP) on Wednesday queued up to submit candidacy applications for upcoming parliamentary elections. Wednesday was the first day in which applications could be submitted.
About 60 NDP remnants submitted their applications in Alexandria, 50 in Kafr al-Sheikh, 25 in Beheira and 22 in Port Said.
The major political parties and coalitions, however, have not yet submitted their lists, and sufficed with nominating only a few candidates for single-winner seats.
“We haven’t yet completed our lists,” said Wahid Abdel Meguid, head of the Democratic Coalition’s elections committee.
