The Managing Editor of the al-Ghad Jordanian newspaper, Muwaffaq Kamal, has revealed further developments regarding Aya Adel, an Egyptian woman who died after falling from the balcony of her home in Jordan.
In a phone interview with TV host Amr Adib on the “al-Hekaya” (The Story) show on MBC Masr on Saturday, Kamal confirmed that the video circulating on social media showing the moment Aya Adel fell from balcony is real.
Cameras installed in the area recorded the moment of the fall, he explained, adding that the video was sent to a technical expert in the Public Security Directorate to analyze the recordings and accurately reveal the circumstances of the incident and determine if there was any foul play involved.
Kamal stated that the Jordanian Public Prosecution investigated the husband over reports of domestic abuse that Aya Adel faced.
He continued: “The husband confessed to the previous incident of violence against his wife, and was arrested on charges of simple assault, then released.”
Kamal said that the initial results of the investigations suggest the possibility of the Adel’s suicide, as the husband was not charged with murder, and added that the authorities are still awaiting the final technical report on the video.
