The Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development will work on two projects during the next three months to reduce traffic in the Cairo and Giza governorates.
Major General Mahmoud Meghawry, head of the central construction agency affiliated with the ministry, said a flyover will be opened in September allowing traffic from Ismailia to enter the Ring Road directly without driving toward New Cairo.
The three-lane, 800-meter Salam flyover will cost an estimated LE120 million, Meghawry told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
He also added that the Ahmed Oraby flyover, which is part of a development project in north Giza, will open by early October. It will link the Ring Road with Mohandessin and Agouza to relieve congestion in Lebanon Square. Meanwhile, 1000 housing units in Imbaba are also being constructed for people who are displaced by the highway projects.
