New report notes fluctuation in food prices

A report by the Egyptian federation of chambers of commerce, issued Thursday, said prices of some food commodities have increased while others have fallen.

The price of packaged flour went up from LE4.25 to LE4.50 per kilo, packaged sugar from LE5 to LE5.25 per kilo, and fava beans from LE7.5 to LE8 per kilo.

However, prices of other commodities went down. The price of tomatoes dropped from LE2 to LE1.25 per kilo, onions from LE3.5 to LE3 per kilo, and live chicken from LE13 to LE12.5.

Meanwhile, prices of rice, lentils, cooking oil, milk, meat, fish and fruits remained unchanged sine the beginning of January 2011.
