Nour Party chairman: Party was excluded from political parties meeting

Younis Makhyoun, Nour Party Chairman, said the party was surprised it was excluded from the political parties' meeting, following a meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, last week, although all political parties participated.
Makhyoun asked Sisi during the meeting whether the Ganzoury list was backed by the presidency for the parliamentary elections, according to a post he wrote on his Facebook page. Sisi denied backing the list, Makhyoun added.
Sisi did not suggest an initiative during to achieve consensus between political parties over the parliamentary elections so as all political parties run on one single list, Makhyoun mentioned.
The Nour Party called on citizens to vote for the party in the next People's Assembly election, saying the party backed state institutions and refused calls to demolish the state to spread of terror among people.
Ibrahim Mansour, a member of the party's Political Bureau, said that the current political process is forcing everyone to choose an MP for legislature, and not services as the next parliament will develop legislations.
The Nour Party relies on the intelligence and discernment of people in the selection of candidates, he added.
He stressed the party's objection to holding of elections under the current law because it allows the success of inefficient candidates.
