Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad al-Malki arrived in Cairo on Sunday for talks on forming a unity government.
Malki is scheduled to hold talks with Foreign Ministry officials on developments in the occupied territories and efforts to push the peace process forward.
Egyptian diplomatic sources said Malki will hold talks with Foreign Minister Mohamed al-Orabi regarding reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas.
The two Palestinian factions have failed to set a date for meeting in Cairo to nominate a leader for the national unity government, to be formed according to the reconciliation agreement signed in May.
Fateh wants current Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to lead the new government, a suggestion rejected by Hamas.
